my ask file path is /home/user/.npm/bin/ask -> /home/user/.npm/lib/node_modules/ask-cli/bin/ask.js

Did you configure your ask CLI? You can run ask configure, if you haven’t done already, otherwise can you confirm that your config exists on the specified path?
